We had a very
successful event on January 5th and 6th, where
over 1100 people helped set the ground work for the African American
Agenda. The community is energized and ready to take action to reduce
disparities in our community and to ensure that the growth and progress
of local African Americans mirrors that of the larger
Charlotte-Mecklenburg community. With your help and dedication, we
are confident that the African American Agenda will be implemented to
create sustainable, positive change. |
ANNOUNCEMENT
The Lee Institute announces
significant support by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to
support education initiative of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg
African American Agenda (CM3A). The Lee Institute has received
a two-year grant of $487,000 to design a broad-based community
process to support student achievement.
At the highly successful
launching of CM3A in January of 2007, the more than 1,100
participants identified education as the top priority to help
address disparities experienced by African Americans in
Charlotte-Mecklenburg. This initiative will involve many
community groups and organizations. If you would like to learn
more about this community effort, please contact
